Promoting Women’s Human Rights: A Resource Guide for Litigating International Law in Domestic Courts

This guide was compiled as a resource for lawyers and other legal advocates utilizing international women’s rights law to fight violations of women’s rights in domestic courts. The guide provides practical strategies for lawyers to incorporate international women’s rights standards into domestic litigation and legal policy, encouraging more lawyers to undertake such advocacy. With the understanding that international women’s rights law is a relatively new specialization within international human rights law, this guide provides examples of lawyers who have successfully used international law in domestic litigation and encourages discussion by lawyers and legal advocates on how to best use international law in domestic courts to improve gender equality.
