HREA believes that quality education in and for human rights is an essential component of the global movement for justice, ensuring accountability, providing an ethical framework for the development of just and peaceable communities, and building a culture of human rights.
Founded in 1996, HREA offers thousands of materials free of charge on its website (www.hrea.org/erc), trains over 2,500 activists and professionals annually through its 35+ courses, networks educators and human rights defenders, and works with practitioners and policy makers in developing new strategies to enhance the effectiveness of human rights education.
